How to use ChatGPT AI to create lessons for Health Science courses.

AI, artificial intelligence, is all the craze in the education world. Teachers are worried about students using AI to create completed assignments, but what if teachers focused on using AI to help create lessons and resources for the courses they teach.

I have watched several videos and attended professional development courses about AI and specifically ChatGPT. I walked away having an idea what AI could do for me, but I needed a specific example that would walk me thorough creating a lesson from start to finish. I decided to create one for you. Below is the video I created to helpguide you through creating a lesson on ChatGPT. After the video you will find a list of the exact prompts I used to create a lesson about infection control and transmission-based precautions.

As promised, here are the prompts I used and mentioned in the video. The prompts are in the order as mentioned in the video.

  1. I am a nationally certified athletic trainer with 18 years of experience teaching high school health science career and technology courses in texas.
  2. Create a high school lesson plan for transmission based precautions using the 5e model of teaching.
  3. Create 6 different case study involving a patient with a contagious disease. include questions for students to analyze the case and determine which type of transmission-based precautions should be implemented. include answers to questions.
  4. List and describe 6 stations that can be used to teach infection control and PPE and include detailed supply list, directions for students, and directions for the teacher.
  5. Create a 10 questions multiple choice quiz about transmission based isolation precautions and include answers.
  6. Create a slide presentation project for high school students about 6 different infectious diseases and how each relate to tranmission based precautions and chain of infection. Include a 100 point rubric that includes an explanation of each level of scoring.
  7. Create detailed directions for students about the project above.
